Camp Inspiratum is hosting a party to celebrate our new space in Gold River. It may sound urban but it is a cozy little 1/2 acre of dust and rock and an amazing shop which by day is a productive business for Zoom Zoom and Captain Chuck and at night becomes our workshop for projects which we now call 'Laboratorium'.
We want to share our new digs with everyone this Saturday, June 14th. Since we are close to the river, early in the day we are having a rafting trip down the American River and then as the day starts to cool off we will pitch camp and settle in for a night of good music and amazing people.
Below is the original invitation, if you have any questions send me a message.
Captain Chuck
Inspiratum 2008
It has officially become time to unveil the shop, open the doors, welcome in all of our friends old and new.
Our new place sits on 1/2 acre with plenty of room to be festive, camp, spin fire, have fun, listen to Jay play the guitar or Red Bone spin some tunes or whatever. So here is how it will work:
All are welcome to camp overnight. Bring a motorhome or a tent or a car or sleep on the ground, there are showers, toilets and plenty of room. Even the consistency of the dusty yard is strikingly similar to playa dust!
The party festivities will begin around 7:00 pm with a barbecue, food, drink, and relaxing in the afternoon sun. As night opens up we will party Inspiratum style. For those of you who have been there you know that this means great people, a little bit of craziness, and maybe some fire here and there.
Early in the day we will be rafting! Yes, rafting... We are very close to the American River and we will drive everyone down to the river rafting rental place, rent rafts, load them up and float down the river. This will cost about $20 per person for the raft rental and the bus ride home. The cool thing about this is that you don't have to carry any gear home! If you have your own floaty and can arrange a ride back, that is cool too and even cheaper!
Once we get back, you can pitch camp, chill out, run around naked or whatever strikes your fancy while we gear up for a barbecue... then begins the party.
Camp Inspiratum is hosting this party at the same location where we hold our Laboratorium nights. This is where we open the shop for projects, camaraderie, and soaking up some inspiration. During the day this shop functions as the home of Autoshield and also as the world's headquarters for Public Safety Innovation. Our gift to the community is this party; so come and have fun, respect the space, leave no trace, and help us to keep this party crazy fun and still a little bit down to earth.

Re: Laboratorium 77 days party, Saturday June 14th
Wed, June 11, 2008 - 12:30 PMI haven't been rafting in a long while.
Put-in if from the rental place and get-ff is at Sacramento Bar?
What is our timing?
Does anyone want to tether together and create a flotilla?
Oh...and how does that new rule about alcohol work? It's prohibited fromthe shor area on certain weekends, but okay in rafts and boats?
Anyone know? -

Re: Laboratorium 77 days party, Saturday June 14th
Wed, June 11, 2008 - 2:19 PMI was looking for information about this a few weeks ago. From what I read, alcohol is completely banned on the shore year round. Alcohol is banned on the waterways only on holidays, ok for all other times. -

Re: Laboratorium 77 days party, Saturday June 14th
Thu, June 12, 2008 - 4:58 PMWe went on a float last weekend. The alcohol was no problem, no bottles allowed. -

Re: Laboratorium 77 days party, Saturday June 14th
Thu, June 12, 2008 - 7:40 PMWe are going to all gather at the shop at 10:00am and then wander over to the rental place. We have to be in the water no later than noon or they will not rent the rafts. The exit is at what used to be Goethe park on Rod Beaudry Drive. They have busses to bring us back from there.

Mon, June 16, 2008 - 10:19 PMArt cars and fire and good music are all good things but what really makes a party is people. Thanks for everyone that came, played, danced, ate, and connected with friends old and new.
We will do it again. I am not sure when but we will definitely do it again!

Re: Laboratorium 77 days party, Saturday June 14th
Sun, June 22, 2008 - 12:25 AMThanks to all who worked to put this event together! We all had such a great day first on the river with our shipmates in the floating jukebox and later at the party. I have not laughed or sang that much in a very long time!
Thanks for keeping the sense of community here alive and well Capn and let us know if we can help organize the next event.

Wed, June 25, 2008 - 3:36 PMWe all had a great time putting the event together and it never ceases to amaze me what a good group of people are out there in this crazy, fun burning man family that we seem to have. Perhaps a pre-burn party is in order early in August?
